Journalist Slaughtered in Bangladesh.

By Anwar Hossain, An elderly journalist and his wife were found dead with throats slit at their Naya Paltan residence in the capital of Bangladesh yesterday. Farhad Khan, 60, senior assistant editor of the daily Janata, his wife and Rahima, 55, had been residing on the first floor of a three-storey building on Masjid Road over the past 12 years.

The journalists murdered figure have taken place the number 33 including this journalist killing in Bangladesh since 1990. Despite this there is no report about the situation of press in Bangladesh. Reporters Without Boarder didn’t show up to express the international concern. I don’t know why? Probly they are not informed?!? Is that so? I don’t believe that ….

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Torture on Journalists: Part-2

By S. M. Anwar Hossain, FM Masum, working in the Daily New Age in Bangladesh was tortured by the Rapid Action Battalion. He was brutally beaten and sued by this notorious elite force as a drug peddler. Earlier my readers have seen that Journalist Jahangir Alam Akash was arrested and tortured by this force.

RAB is well known for its torture on Journalist those who are writing against their extra judicial killing. 1673 people have died since Rapid Action Battalion was formed in the year of 2004. Before coming to power in 2009, it was the election manifesto of present ruling government political party Bangladesh Awami League will stop the extra judicial killing in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Awami League wanted to change the days in our life like US president Barak H. Obama urged before the election.
But in case of Bangladesh - nothing has "change".

Golden Deer and Press Freedom context Bangladesh.

Dear Readers

This is an open letter! Why it is an open letter? I don't know the basic reason of why! But what i felt is that - i will write this article as an open letter format. So that every body knows about the situation and feels to do something for the new threats that have emerged in Bangladesh.

Before describing the situation i would like to focus on some events that took place in this year 2010.

Dated on 01 June
Government closed the national daily Amar Desh and arrested the editor Mahmudur Rahman. He was arrested during a pre-dawn raid on the newspaper office despite the protests of the journalists present. Rahman has been charged with fraud and violence against police officers. The newspaper’s printing press has also been closed. It is notable police couldn't show any warrant during his arrest. He was taken into remand for 12 days. Had been tortured brutally.
