Bangladeshis made demonstration outside the UN Conference.

By Anwar Hossain; Bangladeshcitizens and journalists living in different countries in the European Union has made a demonstration in front of the UN International Conference center when the 2 days UN conference on the safety of journalists started in Vienna! 

It called for the UN to investigate the murders of journalists in Bangladesh.It may be mentioned that four journalists were murdered last 10 months of this year in Bangladesh. Many were arrested and tortured by the law enforcement authorities.


Two TV journalists Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi (husband-and-wife) was killed in his apartment Dhaka on February 11th of this year.


Journalist Jamal Uddin has been murdered in Sharsha, a sub-district of the southwestern district of Jessore, June 15.A reporter for the Jessore-based Bengali-language newspaper Gramer Kagoj, he stabbed and hacked to death by a group of men in a market.
Talhad Ahmed Kabid, a reporter with the Bangladeshi newspaper Dainik Narsingdi Bani, was shot dead on 23 October by unidentified armed men in Shalidah area in the western town of Narsingdi.


No one has been charged with the murders of journalists in Bangladesh. Reporters Without Borders and the Committee to Protect Journalists has condemned all killings of journalistsins Bangladesh.

Bangladesh ranks 129 of 179 countries in the 2011-2012 World Press Freedom Index compiled by Reporters Without Borders.
